On December 2019, after 127 years of serving the developmentally disabled the Sonoma Developmental Center closed its doors forever. What does it mean to be human if you cannot speak or communicate your emotional and physical needs? This documentary features interviews with family of previous residents, staff and local politicians to tell the story of a community who came together to create a place for the severely disabled with care and dignity. What will the future hold for the residents who have had to leave now that the SDC has closed? The documentary was produced and directed by local filmmaker Malinalli López.
