Sponsored by the Womens and Gender Studies Department
In April 2020, in the face of the pandemic, graduate student workers across the UC moved the picket line of their ongoing struggle around rent burden, a fair wage, demilitarization/police divestment, and other intersectional issues, to an online platform called Strike University. In this talk, Anuj Vaidya (media artist, educator, community organizer, and graduate student worker, pursuing a doctorate in Performance Studies at UC Davis) will share stories and lessons from the student/community coalitions forged through Strike U’s abolitionist platform.
