Black Girl Rise is a workshop space for Black girls and women that focuses on what it means to each individual to be a Black girl, the struggles and challenges as well as the beauty and power of being a Black girl, and how to express these feelings and emotions through spoken word. Based on Porsche’s poem “Black Girl”, this workshop will explore the complexity of Blackness and girl/womanhood and give attendees a safe space to express their emotions through art while building a community of sisters.
