Canadian-born violinist Lara St. John has been described as “something of a phenomenon” by The Strad and a “high-powered soloist” by the New York Times. She has performed as soloist with the orchestras of Cleveland, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, the Boston Pops, and the Royal Philharmonic among others. The Los Angeles Times wrote “Lara St. John happens to be a volcanic violinist with a huge, fabulous tone that pours out of her like molten lava. She has technique to burn and plays at a constant high heat.”

The project is part of St. John’s larger ongoing mission to fight for women’s rights and historically marginalized groups, stemming from her experience as a 14-year-old victim of sexual abuse when she was a student at the Curtis Institute of Music – an ordeal she revealed in a series of major media articles in 2019-20. Since then, St. John has worked to give a voice to the voiceless and to help victims of abuse come forward and reclaim their stories.

It features 17 original solo violin compositions written by 12 exceptional composers, including Laurie Anderson, Valerie Coleman, Gabriela Lena Frank, Jessica Meyer, Jessie Montgomery, Milica Paranosic and more.
