Career Services is hiring Student Assistant positions for the 2018-19 academic year. The Student Assistants are integral members of the Career Services Team and support the daily operational goals of job location and development and career advising/programming for our students.  The Student Assistants are responsible for working with current, new and prospective employers regarding employment opportunities, on-campus recruitment, on-campus career programming and campus presentations, and assist in managing Seawolf Jobs, SSU’s online job board. In addition, the Student Assistants work in partnership with our campus marketing team to promote and market the opportunities provided by Career Services.


Sonoma State University Career Services supports and empowers students to be active participants in the career development process. We prepare students to make informed decisions regarding their future by providing comprehensive resources, advising, programs, and access to internships, employment, and graduate school opportunities.

Responsibilities

·         Develop relationships with employers seeking to fill part-time or full-time opportunities.

·         Assist in the coordination of employers visiting campus.

·         Create and coordinate employer related career programming (Career Panels, Career Fairs, etc.).

·         Assist in the creation and delivery of educational career workshops for the campus community.

·         Manage the approval of employer job postings on Seawolf Jobs. 

·         Troubleshoot issues regarding campus recruiting, Seawolf Jobs other online job tools. 

·         Collaborate with other Career Services Student Assistants to promote employment/internship opportunities to the SSU Campus.

·         Assist in the creation of promotional marketing of jobs and internships. 

·         Maintain social media sites.

·         Assist Career Services in performing additional duties necessary to maintain a successful campus recruitment program. 

·          Conduct presentations to classes on career events, workshops, and other career related topics.

 

Qualifications

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills. 

·         Knowledge of basic marketing and networking techniques.

·         Highly motivated and have the ability to work with minimal supervision. 

·         Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with challenging situations diplomatically and calmly.

·         Experience operating Seawolf Jobs, social networking media, Microsoft Office and other computer software. Graphic design, Photoshop, HTML and Dreamweaver experience highly desirable. 

·         Public speaking comfort and experience.

·         Desire to work with the surrounding community in the development and cultivation of student jobs.

·         Experience working directly with diverse populations.

·         Sophomore and above standing for 2018-19 academic year. 

·         Minimum 3.00 GPA.

·         Prior internship and/or employment experience preferred
