4 Reasons to Get Involved in College

The benefits of getting involved on-campus are endless.  Sonoma State has over 120 student organizations, including fraternities and sororities, sport clubs, academic organizations, and other fun clubs.  Getting involved can help you make new friends, learn more about yourself and boost your resume all at the same time.

For CEOs, 70% held an office in their college club or organization.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, clubs even help positively affect things like:

  • Students' attendance
  • GPA
  • Test score
  • Expected educational goals and more

Here are 5 ways to get involved and make your college experience unforgettable.

1. Go to the Involvement and Service Fair

Come to the Involvement Fair to meet several student clubs and organizations.  Grab a free hot dog lunch courtesy of University Culinary Services and Sonoma State Enterprises.

The fair will be held in the Seawolf Plaza on Wednesday, August 29 from 11:30 AM to 1 PM.

2. Use SonomaSync

Sonoma Sync is a place to connect to organizations, communicate with other members and explore the SSU community. To view current clubs and organizations, log into SonomaSync and click the "Organizations" tab.

3. Connect with Student Involvement

The Student Involvement office is located on the second floor of the Student Center.

Contact Student Involvement for any questions about clubs and organizations.

4. Create a new club

If SSU's current clubs don't interest you, feel free to start your own. Vegans at SSU, VR Club, Disney Club and Nerf Club are some current examples of specific interest clubs so pretty much anything goes!

To create a new club, visit the Starting a Club/Organization page on Student Involvement's website.
