Q. Are clubs and organizations going to be accepting members in the fall?
A. Most clubs and organizations will be accepting members this fall and will be virtual! Sports clubs will be active as teams but there will be no in-person practices.
Q. What can freshmen get involved in?
A. The opportunities are ENDLESS! Clubs and orgs are available to you to join! If you're interested check out Engage@SSU! This is an online platform for student engagement and involvement opportunities to help you get connected at Sonoma State University.
Q. If I'm interested in a club should I email them now or wait until the semester starts?
A. We recommend to email them now to connect! Visit Engage@SSU to get the contact information or email directly.
Q. How much does it cost to be in a club or org?
A. The cost depends on the club or organization. Visit Engage@SSU to find more info!
Q. What types of clubs are on campus?
A. We have multiple clubs and organizations from sports to hobbies to philanthropic clubs! Choose a club that interests you or you can create one on the getinvolved site!
Q. What if I have an interest but there is not a club that reflects that?
A. You can actually create your own club! Bring your idea to SSU, visit our website for more info
Q. I am interested in playing a sport are there clubs for that?
A. We have 19 active Sport Clubs and many sport related clubs on campus. Baseball, Brazilian jiu jitsu, Cheer, Dance, Equestrian, Fishing, Lacrosse (M/W), Rowing, Rugby, Soccer (M/W), Volleyball (M/W), Ultimate Frisbee (M/W), and Waterpolo. Q. Can you tell me about greek life and how to get involved?
A. There are many ways to get involved in Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL). The best way is to visit the FSL web page which has all the up to date info and can link you to each chapters Engage page. Visit our website!
Q. For Greek Life, how will virtual recruitment work?
A. Virtual Recruitment for the fall is going to be similar to in-person but will be through Zoom. Save the date: September 11-13. Register and see information on the how to join FSL webpage.
Q. Can I be in multiple clubs and orgs?
A. Yes! You can be in multiple recognized student clubs and/or sports clubs but only one fraternity or sorority.
Q. What types of events do clubs, organizations and student involvement put on?
A. Orgs put on a variety of events from philopathanity, sporting events, socials, formals and much more! And programming puts on a lot of events to keep you busy including educational events, social, movie nights, special dinners, spirit weeks and trips!
