Q: How do I stay in the know on new job postings and events?

A: Download the Handshake app

The Handshake app alerts you with all of the news that you need to hear. What are you waiting for? Visit your Apple or Google Play store and turn Handshake notifications ON, so you don’t miss a beat!

Q: How do I find a job that I’m interested in?

A: Update your Handshake profile with preferences

Including job interests in your profile will help Handshake tailor search engines to the field that you’re interested in. Saving job postings, job searches, and following your favorite employers or companies is also a great way to be notified on new events and opportunities.

Q: What should I do on Handshake if I don’t know what career I want to pursue?

A: Search and Learn!

Visit the “Career Paths” page on Handshake to read about different careers that your major has to offer! Each role description includes the average salary, duties and responsibilities, top cities, and people who are in the role that you can reach out to!

Q: How do I connect with employers?

A: Register for events and update your profile

The best way to connect with employers is registering for events to meet over Zoom and having an updated Handshake profile. Be sure to upload your resume, update your professional skills, and add work and volunteer experience. Once your profile is dialed in, register for career fairs and events to form a connection with employers.

Q: What do I do when I have questions about Handshake or finding resources?

A: Message others!

With Handshake’s messaging option, resources are closer and more personable than ever. Alumni, students, and employers are happy to hear from you and answer any questions you may have. Don’t hesitate to draft up a message and hit send!
