5 Tips When Planning Your Careerfest Outfit
You may have your resume, cover letter and elevator pitch ready for the Careerfest, but have you thought about what you might wear? With the Career Fairs fast approaching, the SL Squad is here to give YOU some tips for the big events ahead! Whether you’re planning on walking into the Student Center Ballrooms to talk to employers or are looking to log on to the virtual career fair via Zoom, it’s important to LOOK good in order to FEEL good.
Tip #1: Dress Professionally
It’s time to retire your favorite sweatpants and t-shirt (at least for one day). Find an outfit that is business casual for the career fair today! Blouses, button-down shirts, slacks, and flat shoes are all great options that will allow you to give a great first impression to employers.
Tip #2: Stick To Neutral Colors & Patterns
You don’t want your outfit choice to distract from what YOU can offer the companies attending the Career Fairs. Neutral colors that are tasteful and flattering will be best for the big day!
Tip #3: Comfort Is Key
The more comfortable you are in your outfit choice, the more confident you will be at the fairs! Heels that make your feet throb or a stiff jacket should be the least of your worries; be sure to choose something that makes you feel as comfortable as possible.
Tip #4: Take Advantage Of The Career Center Closet
Did you know that the Career Center has a closet that you can utilize for the fairs? Visit The HUB on the 2nd floor of the Student Center on March 8-10 to explore business clothes for everyone! Click the button below for more information on preparation events and the career fairs.
Tip #5: Be Confident!
When choosing your Career Fair outfit, be sure to express yourself to show employers who you really are. First impressions are a big deal, so act confident when walking through the doors of the Student Center Ballrooms or when joining the virtual career fair on Zoom. You got this!
