How Staying Active Can Get YOU Through Finals Week

Finals week is known to be one of the most stressful times for college students. We know that exams can be difficult, and even take a toll on your physical health! If you’re looking for ways to take care of yourself during finals season, try implementing exercise into your day for a much needed refresh and recharge. Check out the tips below for staying active and taking care of yourself during finals week!

Set Small Fitness Goals For Yourself

If you’re the type of person who spends an hour in the Rec Center everyday, give yourself a break during finals week. Substitute your lengthy training session with a short walk outside. Put on some of your favorite music or just listen to the sounds of nature around you. Changing your environment can help you recharge for the remainder of your study session.

Workout Buddy = Study Buddy

Find another Seawolf who needs to get out of the Library just as much as you do! Whether it be your study buddy, roommate, or classmate, we are all looking for ways to relieve stress during finals week, and exercising is the perfect way to do so!

Follow the 50/10 Regimen

It is important to schedule out your study times and when you will take breaks. Using the 50/10 method is a great idea! Set a timer for 50 minutes and focus on the work at hand. When the timer goes off, take a quick walk, make a healthy snack or do some stretches for 10 minutes. Working out and taking these mental breaks have been proven to help you retain more information, attain a higher test score, and reduce stress levels!

Try A New Form Of Exercise

Who’s down to try something new? It’s easy to get in a rut when it comes to exercising. Lucky for you, Campus Recreation is here to help. Attend an Inmotion Yoga Class, hop on a spin bike, or play an intramural sport for a fun way to take your mind off studying.

Don’t Forget To Fuel Your Body

Eating healthy snacks, drinking lots of water and getting enough sleep is crucial in order to perform well on tests, presentations or group projects this finals season. Remember to fuel your body so that you are ready to conquer all that lies ahead!

Remember to take care of yourself and know that the Sonoma State community is always here for you. Good luck on finals, Seawolves!
