Spring Lake Regional Park, Santa Rosa

With a clearly paved route, Spring Lake offers 10 miles of trails that are great for running, biking, or strolling. It is also a popular hang out spot in the summer, with a swimming lagoon.

 

Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, Kenwood

A 25-foot waterfall in Sonoma County? No way! Sugarloaf Ridge is the destination for all the best sights. On a clear day, you can even see the Golden Gate Bridge!

 

Quarryhill Botanical Garden, Glen Ellen

New plants are around each corner when you visit the Quarryhill Botanical Garden! With one of the largest collections of scientifically documented, Asian plants, visitors not only appreciate the beauty, but learn something new, as well.

 

Taylor Mountain, Santa Rosa

The hiking options at Taylor Mountain are perfect for everyone! With 5.5 miles of trails, you can experience the best views in Sonoma County, just minutes away from SSU’s campus.

 

Shollenberger Park, Petaluma

Calling all wildlife lovers! Shollenberger Park offers amazing bird watching opportunities, as you hike past Adobe Creek, the Alman Marsh, and the Petaluma Marina.

 

Hood Mountain Regional Park, Santa Rosa

Hood Mountain is new and improved! In 2020, the Lawson Trail opened, giving visitors the chance to visit unforgettable peaks in Sonoma County. This trail has a high elevation and rough terrain, but once you reach the top, your hard work will pay off!

 

The Kortum Trail, Jenner

If you’re a fan of ocean views, this one is for you! The Kortum Trail leads hikers from Wright’s Beach to Blind Beach, on this 4.6 mile trip. Watch the waves crash as you walk along the trailside!

 

Crane Creek Regional Park, Rohnert Park

Who knew there was a hiking trail so close to campus? Crane Creek is the perfect location for a picnic, stroll, or even a game of disc golf!

 

Riverfront Regional Park, Healdsburg

Hike along Lake Wilson and Lake Benoist on this 2 mile loop. Riverfront Regional Park gives views of redwoods, ridges and even the Russian River. If you like fishing or kayaking, Riverfront is the place for you too!

 

Foothill Regional Park, Windsor

With over 7 miles of trails, Foothill Regional Park is a great destination for all hiking levels. Enjoy the greenery of Sonoma County as you stroll past grassy landscapes and forests.
