Alcohol Awareness Week Presents, Drinking Culture: A Conversation on How Drinking Behavior Various Across Cultures

Led by a panel of SSU students who have studied abroad and international students studying at SSU, join us in talking about US student drinking culture, particularly when students are studying abroad, as compared to how college students around the world consume alcohol. With this conversation, we hope that students will better understand how culture can impact college drinking behavior, and why that may be different in other countries. This event is part of SSU Alcohol Awareness Week.

Save A Seawolf Alcohol Awareness Week

to Oct 30

Save A Seawolf Alcohol Awareness Week

Save A Seawolf Alcohol Awareness Week brings awareness and responsibility where alcohol consumption is concerned. Our observance always takes place the week prior to Halloween, as we know that is a high risk time when it comes to college aged students and alcohol use/abuse/misuse.

According to a 2017 National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism survey, more than half (53.6%) of full-time college students drink alcohol in the past month. In the same period, 34.8 percent of full-time students participated in binge drinking.

This campaign offers programs and speakers talking about Alcohol and performance in athletics, distracted and drunk driving, alcohol and sexual assault, bystander intervention and having each other’s backs. We also will be having an important conversation about the recently changed Rohnert Park policies that will affect our Seawolves who live off campus. Campuses across the country are all hosting events like this at this time of year to educate, empower and provide other options to going out and drinking. Join us for one or more of our events. You never know when you will be the one trying to Save A Seawolf!

Alternative Events

We also will be highlighting events and activities that can serve as alternatives to drinking. Things like working out, Movie nights, trivia nights,  poetry nights, laughing and much more!
