Sex, Gender, and God Panel

While many of the mainstream denominations, even today, continue to struggle with questions of sexuality and spirituality, the reality is that Queer people, more and more, are embracing their spirituality and practicing it in communities of faith. Join Reb Irwin Keller, and a panel of spiritual leaders from various faiths, as we take a look at Sex and Gender as they relate to God.

Panelists

Pastor Lindsey Bell-Kerr was appointed to Santa Rosa Christ Church in February 2016. Lindsey is a graduate of Pacific School of Religion and American University.

Arin Hilton is a speaker, writer, and Biblical scholar. He creates and teaches religious education curriculum (Jewish, Christian, and Interfaith traditions) teaches about LGBTQIQA+ issues in multiple settings, and serves as an Interfaith lay chaplain.

Rev. John Torres was baptized and raised in Roman Catholic school & church. He received his BA from Azusa Pacific (College) now University, and his MA from Asbury Theological Seminary.

Reb Irwin Keller is the spiritual leader of Congregation Ner Shalom in Cotati since 2008. His past work included LGBTQI and HIV advocacy. He authored Chicago's first gay rights law, now in effect since 1989.

Grey Batie is a queer, Black, gender non-binary graduate student within the Department of Nuclear Engineering at the University of California-Berkeley. During this informal talk, Grey will discuss their experiences navigating different spaces while coping with racism, homophobia, imposter syndrome, and mental health challenges on the road to completing their PhD.
