Dealing With The Distractions
How To Study Productively with Friends
Have a plan
Talking about how long your study session will be, what you are trying to accomplish and when you need quiet time vs. collaboration are all key components to a successful study session.
Put away your phones
Our phones are our number one distractions, always. TikTok, Instagram and Snapchat can wait so YOU can be productive!
Share a common goal
With having a plan, also set a goal together. Whether you both want to finish your English essay or work together to write out notecards for a biology exam, work together so you can reach your goal.
Set time limits and take breaks
Be sure to take breaks so that your study session can still be fun. A good rule of thumb is to work for 45 minutes to 1 hour, and then take a 10-15 minute break so that your mind does not get “burnt out.”
Quiz each other
By choosing a study buddy in the same class or major, you will be able to learn from each other and even quiz each other, too!
Set a reward for yourself when you reach your goal
Treat yourself! After a long study session reward yourself by grabbing your favorite dessert, hanging out with friends at the Rec, or watching a movie with roommates; you deserve it!
Remember we are all stronger together. Happy studying, Seawolves; you’ve got this!
