Wisdom from the SL Seniors

For those of us who are graduates, the time of year has come to throw our caps in the air and say our goodbyes to our college years. During such a life-changing transition, you begin to really reflect on your college years and the memories you’ll take with you. So we seniors here at Seawolf Living want to leave you with a little something to inspire you to make the most of your college years and reflect on the memories you’ve already made. So here we go, let’s hear from Valentina, Evelyn, and Ellie one last time!

VALENTINA HIDALGO

Graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business & Marketing

“My advice to future Seawolves is to get involved and take risks! College (especially at Sonoma State) is what you make of it. I am so grateful to have gotten involved with Seawolf Living. If I never applied I would never have had the same opportunities and experiences that it brought me. From meeting my best friends in the office to going out and getting to know new people every day when filming videos, this job brought me closer to this campus than I ever could've imagined. So get out there and take advantage of as many opportunities as you can and don’t be afraid of making mistakes. The only way to grow is to try new things, mess up, and learn along the way.”

EVELYN VANDERVILLE

Graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication & Media Studies

“My advice to current students is to get involved as much as possible! Getting involved in Ksun Radio and Seawolf Living is how I met some of my best friends, who I have no doubt will be friends for life. It is definitely scary to put yourself out there and try new things, but that is what college is all about! It’s a short period of time in your life and it’s important to make the most of it. I recommend finding at least one organization to get involved in, whether that be Greek life, a club, a sport, or job. I also think it’s important to remember everyone is feeling the same way you are, so if you are nervous about getting involved you’re not alone!”

ELLIE ZIELSDORF

Graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication & Media Studies

“It’s so cliche when people say 'College is what you make of it' but it REALLY is. I came into SSU reserved after COVID time, feeling disconnected from the people around me, and scared to put myself out there. I can without a doubt say that I kicked that all to the side and opened my mind to the opportunities Sonoma State has offered me. I joined Greek Life, I started working at Seawolf Living, and I tapped into leadership roles within my major, all turning my college years into something I don’t want to leave behind. So whatever you do, remember to do it for YOU and get out of your own way. Do it for the memories, do it because you’ll never be able to again, do it because it means something to you and you don’t want the opportunity to pass you by. One last thing: HAVE FUN. Go to all the events, explore the area, make new friends, and spend time doing things you love!”

COMMENCEMENT & CULTURAL GRAD CELEBRATIONS

For those of you who are grads, make sure you're soaking up every moment during this time! Take advantage of the resources here at Sonoma State and celebrate this accomplishment every chance you get. With that being said, we have linked to resources you can go to for either Commencement information or our Cultural Grad Celebrations being offered.

Alrighty Seawolves, congratulations to our graduates, and as for the rest of you, see you all in the fall!
