You Have Friends..What NOW?!

Since the semester started, it’s likely you’ve made some new friends through social events or classes. But you might be wondering… what now? What is there to do with these college friends you’ve made? How do you maintain friendships while still prioritizing school? These are all great questions, and WE’RE here to provide answers! Here are some fun and easy activities to do with your college friends.

PAINTING NIGHTS!

Feeling creative? Host a painting night in your dorm! All you need are some canvases and painting supplies. Turn on a movie or show and get to painting with your friends. You can choose themes like Disney, animals, self portraits, OR you can use a random word generator for inspiration (the results are HILARIOUS!)

If you don’t have painting supplies, that’s okay! Associated Student Productions often puts on Paint & Sip events, where they have everything you need. Keep your eye out on our Events page on our website so you can be notified when the next Paint & Sip will be!

HAVE A PICNIC!

Pack a lunch and get out of your dorm! There are plenty of spots on campus to enjoy a lovely picnic. Our personal favorite is by the lake, which is a CLASSIC (just make sure no geese snatch your food…), but there are hidden picnic spots all over campus. Whether it’s by the fountain in Beaujolais village, or the 2nd floor balcony of the Student Center, you can always find a perfect place for eating and yapping with your friends.

EVENING WALKS!

I personally discovered this my second year here and it CHANGED my experience! When the weather cools and the sun is setting, it’s the perfect time to enjoy a walk around campus. Usually, we’ll walk to the Butterfly Garden, the lake, and more. Especially after a long day of sitting in classes, it’s nice to get your body moving and chat about how the day went.

Snoopy is how WE feel when we’re going on an evening walk with friends!

MOVIE NIGHTS!

If you’re wanting to unwind after a long, tiring day, a movie night with your friends is JUST what you need! Grab some popcorn and blankets, wear your pajamas, and enjoy a movie in the company of your friends. To make things a little extra cozy, you can even set the ambience! If you have fairy lights or LED lights, make sure to turn those on for the ultimate movie watching experience.

COOKING NIGHTS!

We’re busy college students… how much are we ACTUALLY cooking?! Between homework assignments and extracurriculars, you might have no time to cook a nice meal. That’s why you should plan a cooking night to look forward to. You and your friends can start looking at recipes and brainstorming. After you get the ingredients, it’s time to cook! Turn on some music, work together, and voila! You have a meal to enjoy together.

Lobo’s Pantry is a PERFECT resource to utilize for a cooking night. They even have a recipe book on their website that you can pick from. Located in Zinfandel Village, you can find your ingredients there!

GO TO EVENTS TOGETHER!

This one might seem obvious, but sometimes it’s easy to forget that SSU has lots for you to do! Grab your friends and bring them out to an event on campus, such as our Smoke and Barbecue Festival that is taking place THIS Thursday from 11 to 2. Sample DELICIOUS selections and get a chance to make your own flavor pairing at the BBQ Sauce Bar! You can even have a contest amongst your friends to see who can make the most BOMB sauce.

Try out these activities with your friends and LET US KNOW what you think! Even though you may be busy with school, be sure to make memories too! Have a great week, friends!!! :)
