First Semester Tips You Don’t Want To Miss

The first couple weeks of school can start to feel like a whirlwind, especially after 3 long months of that summer-time mindset. We gathered our best tips on how to maintain control of the beginning of this semester and ease back into the school mindset.

1. Stay Organized

It can be easy to fall into an unorganized mess really quickly if you start off the first couple weeks that way. Staying organized from the beginning can lead to better organization when things get hectic later in the semester. Get an agenda and USE it! Grab a notebook for each class to keep things separate. Consider folders or a binder with separate tabs to keep all of your different class papers in line and readily accessible.

During finals week it’s hard to jog your memory of the beginning of the semester; it feels like ages ago. You won’t regret taking good notes these first couple weeks and you’ll save yourself some stress too.

2. Take Notes

3. Talk to people in your classes

Get to know your peers! Classes can be tough, and it’s nice to have someone to work on homework and study for tests with. When you don’t know a question, other students might! Branch out and befriend some classmates; you’ll thank yourself later.

The class selection process is in a couple months, and with it comes complete chaos. Get ahead of the game and meet with your advisors now while they have more free time for you and your questions. Get to know them, they are here to help you!

4. Talk to your Advisors

5. Get Involved!
