Fall Films that Aren't Considered “Halloween”

Do you ever have those shows or movies that you can only watch during a specific season? Like, they aren’t holiday specific, but they are just PERFECT for that time of year?! We’ve compiled a list of movies/tv shows that give off cozy, nostalgic fall vibes but are overlooked because they aren’t necessarily considered a “Halloween” film. So grab your blanket and some popcorn, and let’s get to watching!

Harry Potter

From the fall ambience to the nostalgic music, Harry Potter is as cozy as it gets. Although it isn’t explicitly a “fall” series, it does follow Harry and his friends as they attend the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and has the ultimate back to school vibes.

Fantastic Mr. Fox

A classic Wes Anderson film with iconic voice actors… from Meryl Streep to Bill Murray to Owen Wilson, this film is a brilliant adventure comedy film that is perfect for the nostalgic, fall season.

Twilight

The Twilight movies consist of cool tones and gloomy weather, which makes for the perfect fall movie. But you’ve gotta decide - are you Team Edward or Team Jacob?

Gilmore Girls

When I think of the fall season, I think of Gilmore Girls. First of all, the plot does revolve around Rory’s school life, which showcases back to school. Secondly, since fall is a season of transition, lots of people connect this show with fall because it’s a coming of age story and about finding one’s place in the world.

Only Murders in the Building

I don’t know if this is cheating because “murder” is literally in the name… but Only Murders in the Building is a comedy-drama TV show that follows a trio who solve a case within their own apartment. It’s a binge-worthy show that is perfect for the rainy fall season.

Schitt’s Creek

Schitt’s Creek is another show that doesn’t take place in the fall season but is perfect to watch because it gives such nostalgic, warm vibes. Set in a small town, we follow a family whose lives get turned upside down.

A Series of Unfortunate Events

A Series of Unfortunate Events isn’t just a show…it's an experience. It’s a dark, tragic tale that follows 3 siblings who are investigating their parent’s death. Meanwhile, Count Olaf, played by Neil Patrick Harris, chases after their inheritance. Its gloomy ambience is a perfect fit for the fall season.
